Stratix 5700 Express Setup Mode

5/5 (2)

In this video I will show you step-by-step how configure the your new Stratix 5700 using the Stratix 5700 Express Setup Mode.

While the Express Setup itself is meant to be an easy method by which to configure the Stratix 5700 managed switch, it can be a little daunting initially. As a result, you can waste a considerable amount of time just trying to get passed the initial setup.

Hopefully, this video will alleviate that “pain” and get you up and running and into the switch as quickly as possible. I do recommend, if you haven’t done so already, you check out our introductory video on how to Configure PC to PLC Communication as part of our Networking Essentials video series. Alternatively, you can view it on our YouTube Channel!

Configure PC to PLC Communication

5/5 (1)

In this video I will show you how to configure PC to PLC communication over an Ethernet network. One of the biggest challenges I see with maintenance personnel and engineering support staff alike is the configurations necessary to configure their laptop or PC’s network settings to be on the same network as the PLC controller they are trying to connect.

As a result, the field service technician is unable to get online with a controller to perform the necessary troubleshooting task. To alleviate this problem, I have created a step-by-step YouTube video that walks the user through exactly how to perform these tasks.

This video was created as part of our Studio 5000 Essentials video series that you can be viewed YouTube or on our Learn PLC’s web page right here on PLCGurus.NET!

Producer/Consumer Messaging vs. Explicit Messaging

5/5 (1)

In this article I will explore two different methods by which a PLC programmer can pass information to-from multiple ControlLogix controllers, namely, the producer/consumer messaging model and the explicit messaging model.

Producer/Consumer and Explicit Messaging Model

While both models will effectively transmit data from one or more controllers to one or more controllers over a network, depending on the requirements of the application, a PLC programmer may be inclined to choose one model over the other.

RSLogix Emulate 5000 Software

5/5 (1)

In this video I show you how to completely setup, configure and download to an emulated controller using RSLogix Emulate 5000 software.

RSLogix Emulate 5000 software’s main purpose is to provide a mechanism by which you can program a ControlLogix CPU without having the physical hardware. It accomplishes this by emulating both the CPU or processor and discrete Input/Output modules…cool!

A link to the complete manual can be found on the Rockwell Automation website here. If you haven’t checked out our video on how to configure RSLinx drivers, check that video out here.

Studio 5000 Versioning and Firmware

5/5 (1)

Hi, first of all this site looks great!

I’m having a problem, I have a ControlLogix 1756-L61 processor that has been programmed using Studio 5000 previously.

I’m running Studio 5000 versions 24 but when I try to open the programming file a popup saying that it was created using version 21.03. The two options I have to convert the program are only 20 or 24. First thing I did was try to import to 20, but did not work, so I tried version 24 and it seemed to convert. Is there anything I will need to do to download this now?

Game Changer! Awesome YouTube Video Capability

We’re excited to share that we’ve updated our video editing software to a Camtasia Studio 9, check out their site here. This is going to give our videos a huge boost in quality and video editing capability. To demonstrate we’ve redone the popular RSLinx Ethernet Configuration video.
